Stitched from batik and tie dye inspired designs, this quilted strip features a quote from social activist, educator and author bell hooks. She believed justice is only possible when we build diverse “beloved” communities where everyone is treated equitably and with dignity. Message: “If we want a Beloved CommUNITY, we must stand UP for JUSTICE.”
Strip is stitched from 100% cotton, and quilted using Sashiko, a form of Japanese mending. In Sashiko, rips are not only mended, but fabric is made stronger and more beautiful. Story strip is 51.5” long and 2” wide. The antique spool is 3 1/4 inches tall. Snap closure, covered with a mustard yellow button and adorned with jute twine and wooden beads.
