$15.00
This slow stitched spool carries a meaningful message for a poet, writer or any creative who may feel stuck. As you unwind it reads “Then she started to come alive, as if assured by NATURE that life, like FUNGI, like art, against all odds, persists.” From a poem written by Sylvia Plath who, when suffering from writers block, took a walk in the woods and was inspired by the persistence of mushrooms.
Stitched from a colorful collection designed by Gingiber, the strip has a gold-toned quilted backing. Message is slow stitched on cotton. Strip is 62 inches long and 2 inches wide. Spool is 3 1/4 inches tall, When rolled up it closes with a tiny metal snap, and is decorated with a big orange button and jute ties. I will send an info sheet about this Spool because the story of how the poem came to be is a fascinating intersection of art & botanical science.
